“I’ll see you later, Kanaya!” Rose called, grabbing her pastel purple and white backpack, slinging it over her shoulder.
She began out the door as soon as she heard her lovely matesprit holler back an ‘ok!’. Rose smiled softly to herself as she closed the front door to her new home, a slight blood blush upon her cheeks as Kanaya’s monotone, yet familiar voice reached her ears. Sighing happily, she held on gently to the straps of her backpack and sauntered down the sidewalk, listening to her white tennis shoes quietly scuff the rough, rocky surface of the cement. Oh, how she loved life with her selfless and kind girlfriend...
Continuing down the pathway, she approached a minor group of students, who were waiting for the bus to her school. She avoided them entirely, finding a nice shady place underneath a rather colossal tree. Adjusting her skirt as she sat on the curb, she pulled out a pen and journal, relaxing her head on her free hand.
She began to jot down cute little nothings for Kanaya. Actually, it was more along the lines of a less potent form of fan-fiction.
Steam rose all the way to the ceiling and fogged up the mirrors as Kanaya emerged from the warm depths of the bathtub. Pulling herself from the warm water, the grey-skinned girl wrapped a fluffy, white towel across her torso, leaving enough of the length of it to cover up her inner thighs and privates. Kanaya approached the smoky mirror and ran a single jade-green tinted finger down its length. Looking benign and calmly at herself through the tiny slash of clearness, she gingerly touched her grey skin, before moving to her orange horns, and her super sharp teeth. She began to dry her dark hair and all the rest of her oddly colored skin. Suppressing a small frown, she continued to the bathroom door, towel still around her, and headed to her bedroom, which she shared with Rose.
Dropping the towel from her body, she looked into her vanity mirror. She frowned again. Her naked body was no different then the rest of her. Odd, of course, compared to humans. Four deep scars, two on each of her side marked where her baby grub legs had fallen out and her moderate sized breasts had no nipples. She wanted to gaze down upon what existed between her thighs, but that would bring even more pain. It was the reason she was afraid to get truly intimate with Rose.
Walking gracefully, ignoring the feelings she currently felt, she opened the door to her wonderfully stocked walk-in closet. Smiling, she felt truly happy with Rose, not because of Rose’s substantial budget and the thought of a gift, but because the human girl felt for her. Rose loved Kanaya, she wasn’t flushed for Kanaya, as Rose had said herself, she loved Kanaya. Jade green blush covered Kanaya’s cheeks and the tip of her pointy nose, after a lot of explanation and debating from Rose, the two had come to the conclusion that a ‘love’ and a ‘flush’ were different. The two had decided a sweet ‘love’ was stronger than a silly ‘flush’.
Kanaya gathered her clothes for the day, sliding them on, along with a headband that allowed her horns to poke through the top via two precisely cut holes. Her green sundress was a favorite both with Rose and Kanaya. It was cute, not to mention fashionable, and the straps were thick and they didn’t fall all over the place, like other dresses that the troll girl rarely wore.
Kanaya looked in the vanity mirror again, this time her face gleaming happily. Who cared if Kanaya was different then the humans? Rose loved her for her, and that was enough. It was enough, right? The doubtful look returned to Kanaya’s eyes as she stared at her reflected image. Maybe it wasn’t.
Then again, she was like a strange, warped outfit among a million beautiful, fashionable ones.
